Biography
Endowed with a keen sense of social justice and natural abilities for research and introspection, Ba Luvmour has dedicated his life to discovering how to restore and deepen optimal well-being in society and the world. After extensive work with families and research is many psychological discourses, philosophy, family dynamics, brain research, and education Ba saw what others had seen before: the events in childhood have profound effect of the decision making of adults. Well-being in children is the fulcrum upon which social justice pivots. It is the leverage point for a successful society.
Ba asked: Without being fanciful or utopian, is it possible to describe childhood from the perspective of well-being?
For twenty-five years Ba and his wife Josette have partnered to explore the issue of optimal well-being in children and families. In addition to the research cited above, Ba, as Summa Academy Director of Summa Institute (www.SummaInstitute.org) , has pioneered experiential learning for whole families together. He has facilitated hundreds of these programs and many families have successfully redirected their attention to supporting well-being on one another, and in the process, watching many of their family problems melt away.
Ba and Josette named their approach Natural Learning Relationships. Rooted in a combination of child development and family dynamics, Natural Learning Relationships has been successfully used in families, schools, social service agencies, and therapy and family consulting. As Natural Learning Relationships appreciates that every family is its own culture, families from many different backgrounds and configurations have used it successfully.
Ba and Josette have collectively published six books. They wrote four books together, two on Natural Learning Relationships and two on Cooperative Games and Activities, one of which won the Parents Choice award. Ba has written a new book, Optimal Parenting: Using Natural Learning Rhythms to Nurture the Whole Child. In addition, they have spoken at numerous conferences, published many articles, and trained professional staff so they may use Natural Learning Relationships in their work.
