Biography
Josette Luvmour, PhD, has over 25 years of experience as a private consultant serving individuals and families in all aspects of human development and relationships with children. She is also an educator in human development and has been educating adults since 1992. In addition to my consulting, I have taught undergraduate and continuing education courses as an adjunct faculty member in Portland, Oregon. Over time I have also co-authored five (5) books on healthy relationships with children as well as numerous journal articles.
Specializing in Natural Learning Relationships™ and in the fields of whole-child development, adult development, family and sustainable family relationships
Training and Experience
In 2008, Josette completed a PhD at Fielding Graduate University with a focus on the developmental experiences of adults meeting children’s developmental imperatives. This expanded awareness and expertise informs new and continuing programs for adults and families that she is offering.
Josette is well versed in humanistic and existential psychology, which supports the greatness of each of us to be an integrated, interconnected, organized whole person. She enjoys helping each family member to rediscover meaning in life with a sense of awe and wonder.
Her graduate training has made her skilled in translating scholarly work into practical applications. For Josette, life as a scholar-practitioner has meant breaking down the boundaries between what is studied (theory) and what is done (practice). Since 1985, she has created many successful whole-family hands-on learning programs that support optimal well-being in the child, adult, and family.
Trained by the Oregon Family Institute Josette is available for Custody Evaluation using the Collaborative Evaluation Method.
Community Service in the Non-Profit Sector
Josette has long been active in community service. In addition to her consulting practice, she has served in the nonprofit sector at Summa Institute for over 25 years as Director of Summa Family and Professional Development Center. Summa Institute provides children and their families with the resources, education, and community to achieve optimal well-being in self, family, and society. As Director of professional development at Summa, Josette designs programs that provide a rich resource of continuing education and training for professionals interested in fully nurturing the children in their care.
Personal
Josette lives in Portland, Oregon with Ba, her husband of 32 years. They enjoy living near their children and grandchildren. “My teaching, research, and service are each informed by my lived experience and relationships with my husband, my children, and two lovely granddaughters.”
Josette enjoys walking in nature, gardening, fabric-arts, quiet reflection, reading, yoga practice, friends, family outings, and playing with children.
